A real quick update…IEF v3.5.1 is out now, fixes a couple minor bugs related to IEF not loading in some cases when in demo/unregistered mode.

Just a quick update this time: IEF v3.5.0 is now available.

IEF v3.5.0 adds support for more types of Limewire searches and confirms support for versions 5.2.8 to 5.5.8 (latest version). Thanks to Jason Belanger for his research in this area.

Here is a list of the new features found in v3.4.0:
» When selecting a file as the source, now multiple files can be selected without having to go with the Select Folder option
» Updated MSN/WLM text fragment recovery
» Added recovery of additional GoogleTalk® artifacts
» Added retries (up to 20) when an error occurs reading a file or sector
» Empty folders (i.e. 0 hits) in the output folder are removed at the end of the search now
» Added a “Go to output folder” button that is appears after the search is completed
» Fixed bug where user was sometimes prompted when errors occurred even if “ignore errors” was checked
» Issue resolved where installer could not launch IEF properly in Vista/7
» Slight UI improvements
» Demo version now saves up to 20 items per search to allow for a better evaluation before purchasing

A new program called Web Page Saver (WPS) has been released by JADsoftware.

This program will take snapshots/captures of web pages and save them to image files. An easy-to-navigate HTML report is created for browsing the saved web pages.

Also in this update is Fchat v1.11. This release fixes a small bug in the Unicode support. Go to the Downloads page to get the latest version.

New versions of Fchat and FJF are on the site now.

Fchat v1.10 adds more Unicode support and fixes a bug that caused some computers to crash in the Full Search. Also, now up to 25 chat messages are saved in the demo version to help people get a better idea of what Fchat reports look like. For more info, please go to the Fchat product page.

FJF v1.2.0 adds a new feature to speed up searches (only the user profile folders are searched, which is where the images will generally be found). The GUI has been updated slightly as well. For more info, please go to the FJF product page.

Finally, the Law Enforcement Portal has been updated with new software.

A couple updates to mention today: a Law Enforcement Portal has been added to the website. This area is restricted to law enforcement and down the road will contain small utilities, announcements, and other information. For now, it will be used as the new method of obtaining a law enforcement IEF v3 registration key. Just create an account using your law enforcement email address and once the account is approved, log in and generate your key. You can get to the portal by using the link at the top right of the site (in the navigation panel) or click here.

Also on the site today is a new version of FJF, with a slightly new interface and support for locating more photos. You can also not include photos in the report if you wish. See the product page for more info: FJF product page

New versions of IEF and Fchat are out today; IEF gets a new search function, Facebook® Email “Snippets”, bringing the total number of searches to 19.

A bug was fixed in Fchat that caused Fchat to hang on some computers when running the Quick Search. The Capture function has also been improved to ensure very recently sent/received messages are included when the capture is stopped.

Fchat is geared towards the home user and will search your computer for Facebook® chat (Quick and Full search options). It can also operate in “Capture mode” where it runs silently in the background and captures live chat messages as they are sent/received. Go to the Fchat page for more information.
