Web Page Saver
→ Web Page Saver v1.0.0
What it does
Web Page Saver (WPS) is a program that takes a list of URLs and saves scrolling captures (“snapshots”) of each page. URLs can be typed in manually or imported from a text file or CSV file. An easy-to-navigate HTML report file is created containing the saved pages, with customizable options such as including an agency crest/logo and title for the report.

The above screenshot is the WPS main screen after saving sample URLs. A log file containing the contents of the status window is created at the end of the web page capture process.
WPS uses the version of Internet Explorer installed on your system to load the web pages. Captured snapshots of web pages will look the same as they would if you visited them in IE on your system.

Above is the Options screen in WPS. Here you can change the file format used to save captures of web pages, add a logo or custom title for the report, and change the pause time between captures (see help on that window for more info).
What it does not do
WPS does not “crawl” a web site and capture every page from that site, it only goes to the URLs provided and captures those single pages.
Why use it?
Web Page Saver is useful to capture how certain web pages looked like at a specific point in time, and have a “hard copy” of those pages. This could be used to show a visual representation of URLs that were visited by a person (or at least, what they look like at the time WPS is run), especially in situations where the web pages need to be displayed in a environment where Internet access is not available (such as a court room, etc).
Requirements
- WPS has been tested on Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7. It should run fine on Windows 2003/2008 Server but will NOT run on Windows 2000, 9x and prior.
- Disk and memory requirements are very minimal, if you can run Windows XP you can run WPS. (a fast CPU and a good amount of RAM are always good to have)
- An Internet connection is required to operate WPS (obviously), but the report generated can be viewed without any Internet connectivity.
Upcoming features
- Option to use Firefox to render web pages
- Suggestions welcome.
Licensing
A demo version of WPS can be downloaded from JADsoftware.com but only up to 5 web pages will be captured in “demo mode”. WPS is commercial software and a license needs to be purchased to “unlock” the demo version of WPS for full functionality (unlimited captures).
Please go to the Purchase page for details/licensing information.
(Please note: WPS is not free for law enforcement.)
